Match Preview | Benetton (A)
It’s the penultimate round in the United Rugby Championship and Glasgow are off to Treviso to face Benetton at the Stadio Mongio.
Glasgow Warriors need as many points as possible in their next two fixtures to maintain that second spot in the league heading into playoffs. Benetton will be looking to secure their place in the top eight as it is all to play for in the middle of the table.
Glasgow have won their last ten fixtures against Italian opponents since Benetton beat them in Treviso in 2022. That loss marks their only loss against Benetton in their last six meetings.

Benetton had a three game win streak ended by the Stormers in South Africa. They did get a bonus point win against the Emirates Lions at the Emirates Airline Park the week before, proving that they are a team to be reckoned with.
Glasgow’s latest form in the URC follows the same vein as Benetton with their three game winning streak ended by the Vodacom Bulls at Scotstoun. However, the Glasgow squad could be bolstered this weekend as many key players could be set to return following injury, including Sione Tuipulotu.
Johnny Matthews is still joint top try scorer in the URC with Jamie Dobie fast approaching. Dobie’s form of late has seen him on the wing as injury cover and proving that he can play across the park.
Up front for Glasgow, Nathan McBeth has been consistent and strong, coming in often as a first choice in the forward pack.
Glasgow are back in the lead in terms of stats when it comes to attack, with the most tries scored, metres gained, clean breaks and defenders beaten than any other club in the league. The side will be keen to showcase as much of this free-flowing attack and how dangerous the can be anywhere on the pitch.
The game on Saturday evening will be one not to miss. Both sides will be desperate to prove they have what it takes to win, and both will be searching for as many points as possible, with five points up for grabs.
