“It gives us confidence but we also know what is ahead of us” | Josh McKay
Glasgow Warriors played up a storm against the Stormers last night at Scotstoun to secure their spot in next week’s United Rugby Championship Semi-Final.
Josh McKay was back in action after a short injury period and caught up with glasgowwarriors.org to share his thoughts on the game.
“Obviously, first and foremost buzzing to come away with the win when it’s a playoff match.” McKay said, “It’s awesome to play in front of our home fans for possibly the last time of the season and come away with the win.
“We have done our bit in the quarterfinals and now we wathc the footy tomorrow and see where we land.”

With the game ending 36-18 in Warriors favour, the first half was a lot closer, with only six points separating the teams at half time.
“The first half was pretty tight. We knew it was going to be hard in areas for us, especially in that first 40 because of the wind there, it was a little bit breezier, so we couldn’t send it long.
“But we just had to stay in the fight. Control what we could, which I thought we did for parts of that first half and then there were parts which we could have been a lot better. I think the second 40 we were able to just finish off the job that we had started.”
Stormers were unable to score any tries in the second half and the tries which Glasgow scored, were in classic free flowing attacking rugby style which the team have been known for. Speaking on this McKay said, “You always wanna have fun on the field and when you’ve got the ball on your hands out wide and there is space in front of you, well, that’s when you are having the most fun.
“It gives us confidence but we also know what is ahead of us. So we just gotta stay with our feet on the ground and not get too ahead of ourselves. Just keep stacking those moments. That’s what has led us to this stage of the season.

The atmosphere at the stadium was electric, with the Warrior Nation out in force to support the team,
“The crowd was unbelievable! It was awesome to be able to put on a performance. They were up on their feet and giving it the big ones!
“Obviously we have got a few leavers. Henco was able to nabbed off near the end there and the whole crowd was on their feet and chanting for him which is pretty cool!
“There are a lot of lads out there who have carved out a legacy here and in a pretty short time at Warriors, so if it was our last home game this season, then what a way to be sent off!
“We love all of our fans and the atmosphere they bring, but the job isn’t done yet. We just have to focus one week at a time and we’ll go from there.”
