“I think it was a slow start, but the boys dug in” | Alex Samuel

Glasgow Warriors put on a display in Newport after a relatively slow start against the Dragons.  A game which saw Glasgow earn seven tries including a brace from George Horne and debut tries for Jack Mann and Nathan McBeth.

Alex Samuel was in the pack on Sunday afternoon and he caught up with glasgowwarriors.org to share his thoughts on the game.

“I think it was a slow start,” Samuel said, “But the boys dug in and in the end, that second half is probably more what we are looking for.”

The game saw the return of Jare Oguntbenju as well as debuts for Mackenzzie Duncan and Kerr Johnston.

“It’s awesome playing with Jare! Mackenzzie got his debut and Kerr coming off the bench in the backs.

“It’s really good to have these players getting their debut and being able to play with them.  I thought they did really well!”

The game was a game of two halves, as at half time, Glasgow were leading by just four points.

Speaking on this Samuel said, “We got a bit of a rocket at halftime, so we then came out and gave a good response.  The second half is more of how we want to play.”

Glasgow now have a small break before returning to Scotstoun to host Ospreys in the next round.

“I think we might get a little of time off and then it will be good to get fired in to the Ospreys.

“They are going well this season. But will be great to be back to Scotstoun and get running about there!”
