Dream debut for boyhood Warrior Yule
On a crisp autumn evening at Scotstoun Stadium, under the floodlights and the expectant gaze of a passionate home crowd, Kerr Yule lived the moment every young Glasgow Warriors fan dream of.
As he stepped onto the pitch for his professional debut against the Hollywoodbets Sharks, the 20-year-old centre wasn’t just pulling on a jersey – he was stepping into a lifelong ambition.
“Pretty buzzing,” Yule admitted with a grin after the match, still soaking in the magnitude of it all.
“To win in front of a Scotstoun crowd like that has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. It means everything to me to play here.”
For Yule, this wasn’t just another game. It was the culmination of years of dedication – from his early days in the Warriors academy to becoming the most-capped Scotland U20 player of all time.
That record, earned over three intense seasons on the age-grade international stage, is a testament to his consistency and talent. Yet even with that pedigree, a debut for his boyhood club still felt “pretty surreal”.
“I wouldn’t have expected this coming into the season,” he said.
“It’s great to get out there in front of those Scotstoun crowds.”
The occasion was made even more special by the result. Glasgow opened their 2025/26 United Rugby Championship campaign with a hard-fought victory, securing a vital bonus-point win over a physical Sharks side stacked with Springbok internationals.
The five-point haul not only delighted the home faithful but, as Yule noted, “will set us up nicely against Benetton” in next week’s fixture.

From Age-Grade Star to Senior Stage
Yule’s journey to this moment has been marked by steady progression and relentless work ethic. His record-breaking run with Scotland U20s saw him face some of the best young talents in the world – experience that has clearly shaped his transition into senior rugby.
“Yeah, that was a long three years,” he recalled of his time in the age-grade ranks.
“We got a good couple of results along the way, but that was pretty good.”
That grounding proved invaluable on debut night. The Sharks, known for their physicality and confrontational style, offered a baptism of fire. Yule relished the challenge.
“For me personally, it’s probably just a step up in physicality,” he reflected.
“Sharks are a pretty physical team, so it was a good learning experience for me.”
Despite the ferocity of the contest, Yule looked composed, showing glimpses of the ball-carrying strength and defensive nous that made him a standout at U20 level.
Whilst there were inevitably moments where Glasgow were forced onto the back foot, the young centre was quick to praise the collective resilience that carried them through.
“As a team, I think the positives from that is even when things don’t go out way, we stuck together,” he said.
“Even when we’re not in it, we still stuck together as a team and managed to win.”
Support and Belief
For any player making the step up to the professional ranks, the support of teammates can make all the difference. Yule was effective in his praise for the Warriors squad and the role they played in helping feel ready for the occasion.
“The boys have been great, helping me out – especially during the week as well,” he said. “Just giving me all the confidence and clarity. They’re amazing on the pitch as well, especially when things weren’t going our way. Everyone has each other’s backs.”
That sense of belonging and mutual trust has been a hallmark of Glasgow’s resurgence under head coach Franco Smith, and Yule’s seamless integration into the side speaks volumes about both his character and the environment around him.
A Debut Against the Best
If the pressure of a professional debut wasn’t enough, Yule’s first taste of senior rugby came against some of the most formidable players in the game. The Sharks’ lineup boasted several Springboks – World Cup winners and seasoned internationals – but the young Scot embraced the challenge.
When asked if he thought his debut would be against some of the Springboks, he shook his head, “No I couldn’t imagine that happening. I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
It’s that grounded humility, paired with quiet determination, that makes Yule such an exciting prospect for Glasgow Fans. His debut was more than a personal milestone – it was a glimpse into the club’s future.

A Glimpse of What’s to Come
There will be tougher tests ahead, and Yule knows that one impressive performance is just the beginning. But as Glasgow kicked off their campaign with a statement win and one of their brightest young talents took his first senior steps, there was a sense of optimism in the air at Scotstoun.
For Kerr Yule, the night will live long in the memory – not just for the result, or the roar of the crowd but for the fulfilment of a childhood dream. “To win over a Scotstoun crowd like that,” he said again, still beaming, “means everything.
