11 Glasgow prospects in Emerging Scotland squad
11 of Glasgow Warriors’ brightest prospects have been selected in the first-ever Emerging Scotland squad to take on Italy U23 this weekend, in the squad’s first match as part of the National Academy pilot programme.
Part of the Scottish Rugby Male Performance Pathway outlined earlier in 2024, the squad includes a blend of U20 talents, emerging prospects and those playing outwith the Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh setups.
Macenzzie Duncan is selected in the squad a fortnight on from being involved in a Glasgow Warriors matchday 23 for the first time, as well as a brace of standout Scotland U20 wingers in the form of Amena Caqusau and Kerr Johnston.
Glasgow Warriors senior academy props Callum Norrie and Calum Smyth are both selected, as well as Ben Salmon – a standout for Glasgow Warriors A across the last couple of seasons – amongst the backline options.
Brent Jackson and Matthew Urwin are selected amongst the half-back options, with Kerr Yule joining Salmon amongst the cohort of centres selected.
Dan Halkon and Joe Roberts complete the contingent of Warriors selected, the former Scotland U18 duo included after impressing in their time at Scotstoun to date.
Emerging Scotland take on Italy U23 at Hive Stadium this Friday night, with tickets available at scottishrugby.org.
The Emerging Scotland squad to take on Italy Under-23s at Hive Stadium on Saturday.
The match will be the first time Emerging Scotland have played and forms part of the National Academy pilot programme.
